CEO Award

KBR Chair, President, and Chief Executive Officer Stuart Bradie recently honored three KBR employees as part of the prestigious HSSE CEO Award program, which has been presented annually since 2016. This award recognizes individuals or groups who demonstrate exceptional HSSE leadership or extraordinary performance by living our commitment to Zero Harm.

This year’s group award for HSSE Excellence was presented to Greg Pavelko and Roger Graham, members of the Extravehicular Activity Space Operations Contract (ESOC) team. The individual award was presented to   Hannah Lush, manager of the Swindon National Service Hub.

Greg Pavelko and Roger Graham were recognized for their life-saving actions during NASA’s Extravehicular Activity (EVA) emergency egress training at the Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory (NBL) – a 6.2-million-gallon pool where astronauts and support teams practice spacewalks in simulated weightlessness.

As part of the exercise, divers disconnect a glove from the pressurized suit – a procedure known as a “glove pop,” which immediately releases pressure inside a training spacesuit to simulate the feeling of a rapid depressurization event in space.

However, just before the glove disconnected, Greg, who was serving as suit technician, noticed that the suit pressure was reading above the required safe pressure. He immediately informed Roger, the suit engineer, who promptly halted the exercise, NASA recognized both employees, with the medical team saying their actions prevented a potentially deadly incident.

Hannah was recognized for her 24/7 commitment to HSSE, leading by example at the National Service Hub (NSH), across wider KBR, and even at home. Under her leadership, the NSH team reached an impressive milestone of eight years recordable incident-free in 2024. She has championed positive behaviors such as Courage to Care Conversations (CtCCs), resulting in over 400 submissions from her team. Hannah also led monthly Zero Harm Walkthroughs, the “Courage to Scare” Halloween campaign, and numerous charity and environmental initiatives—including a One Ocean beach clean in Bournemouth. Her dedication to KBR’s Zero Harm 24/7 Courage to Care Culture is both inspiring and infectious.

Offering his congratulations to the winners, Stuart Bradie said:

“Greg, Roger, and Hannah exemplify what it means to live our Zero Harm commitment—not just in the workplace, but in every aspect of life. Their courage, vigilance, and leadership reflect the very best of KBR’s HSSE culture. These awards go beyond a celebration of their achievements, but act as a powerful reminder of the impact one person—or team—can have when Zero Harm is a shared value.”

Congratulations to Roger, Greg and Hannah – and the ESOC and Estates Intelligence teams – for their continued commitment to Zero Harm.
